I am a visionary; I have a vision for a world without cancer, but I need your help! The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society was built on this same vision--of a better world--one without blood cancers.

This year, I am proud to be participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Visionaries of the Year campaign, working to make the largest impact possible for LLS's mission.

I joined this campaign in honor of my children, Alyssa (age 7) and Mazie (age 4). I love my children, they mean everything in the world to me. All I think about and all I do, is always with them in mind, for their well-being. My wife and I are thankful our children, at this very moment, are healthy, and we pray they always are. However, there are many children in the world who are not, that have been unlucky in the game of life, and given no choice but to deal with such a disease that robs their childhood, their mind, and their spirits.

When my good friend Walter Thorne from the business review asked me if I was open to leading and take on this challenge of representing the LLS for this noble cause, I felt honored. I am excited for the opportunity to do my part, in any way I can, to help those who are affected by cancer.

During the first meeting with the LLS team, I was asked which initiative I would like to run under, and without hesitation I said the Children’s initiative. Why? Because the first thing I think of when I wake up in the morning, is my children. My thoughts during the day are with my children, the last thing I do at night is kiss my children. I couldn’t find anything more fitting than to represent them and all the children that are faced with such a life altering, challenging, emotional and physical event.

I had a great mentor and father figure, Bob Bellizzi, who battled with Leukemia since the day I met him. Bob was my baseball coach at The College of Saint Rose. I was just a young pup, trying to find my way, and Bob believed in me when no one else did. He took me in as one of his children, and he gave me opportunity and inspiration. I wouldn't be standing here if it was not for him. He once said to me, I will help you and all I want you to do in repayment, is to graduate. I gratudated from The College of Saint Rose in 2003.

I am humbled for this opportunity to plant one seed, that I hope can help many people and families. I am humbled because this brings me closer to learning more about this disease, engaging and building relationships with those who are helping with the fight and those fighting the great fight for their very lives.
